I'm afraid I cannot reproduce this on my M1 macbook pro. Could you check with
the latest version of Krita, 5.2.6?  Did macos provide a crash log? (Also note
that for the upcoming 5.3.0 the entire text shape and text tool have been
completely rewritten.)
