The variant with tick marks doesn't work.

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON 'digikam.*' TO 'maik'@'127.0.0.1';

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your
MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ''digikam.*' TO
'maik'@'127.0.0.1'' at line 1

In fact, it must be so-called backticks.
