LOL what a misunderstanding.
kdelibs5 is kdecore.so.5 which is KDE 4 !!!
The major version is off by one on some libs for historical reasons.
Look at the version number of that kdelibs5 package: 4.4.5
This is what we called kdelibs-4.4.5.
Look at the description:
"This is a dummy transitional package to enable installation of other Debian 
packages linked against KDE 4.0 - 4.3 versions of the cumulative KDE 
Development Platform Libraries package previously shipped in Debian."
This has NOTHING to do with KF5.
PS: yes do CC me, I'm not on kde-mac.

To come back to the topic at hand: think of "pure Qt" apps installed via 
MacPorts and using QStandardPaths. Are they able to find their own files?
I understand the answer is no, right? So let's fix that.
And if you look at the definition of the problem as I just stated it: it has 
nothing to do with KF5 (and for sure nothing to do with Plasma!).
