Please, please, please, do NOT do add a variant.

MacPorts' general policy is to make ports as simple as reasonably possible. Variants by definition increase the complexity of ports, but it's often worth it when there's a significant functional choice to be made at build time.

We should not add complexity just to cater to users' aesthetic whims. Either improve the menu reorganization or don't, but don't provide Yet Another Preference.

P.S. Applications should be made to behave properly in their environment, and I think working towards that is well worth the effort. We use OS X; act accordingly.
