[KDE/Mac] Macports + Konsole + fonts?

Hi All,
I was able to install and get running kdebase4 via macports with
minimal issues. I have verified the konq, kate and konsole all work!

I am running into an issue with fonts in konsole though. I have
installed quite a few additional fonts via macports, yet I am only
seeing a limited set of fonts available when i goto Edit Profile ->
Appearance -> Edit Font (Andale Mono, Courier, Monaco for example). I
also find that Monaco 10point is the only font that is rendering
correctly. If I scale this font up to 14point for example spacing b/w
characters breaks, and the terminal becomes useless.

I have purged my fc-cache and rebuilt it several times, and have
re-installed kdebase4 as well with no luck. Has anyone else run into
this issue?

Platform Version 4.4.5 (KDE 4.4.5)

debugging info when running konsole in foreground - the last line is
produced when i change my font from Monaco to courier for example:

<debug>
