more searching on this subject and i found this post,
http://mt.raccoonfink.com/mt-search.cgi?blog_id=1&tag=snow%20leopard&limit=20

apparently, there is no qt3 support for 64bit mac; thus no kde. this
explains why every time i compile qt with -qt3support i get no
qt3support nor do i get an error telling me that it is not a valid
option on my platform.

I wish i had more time to work on this to help remove the references
to qt3 in kde.
