[KDE/Mac] problem on Macbook

Hi,

everything runs (kind of) fine on my MBP. Not so on
my friend's Macbook.

My friend is a big fan of kdegames (especially kpat
and kolf). When one starts kpat or kolf, the main
canvas is a big bad black rectangle.

Both systems run under 10.5.5. The only difference I can see (besides
obviously the hardware configuration) is that the MBP has X11
installed and the Macbook not.

Any ideas?
