I believe the dbus in fink is not new enough; while they don't actually 
say so, they're using APIs that are only in 1.2 and higher.  I have a 
new dbus package I haven't had time to finish testing yet, if you want 
to give it a shot.  Just grab:

http://svn.finkproject.org/svn/users/ranger/trunk/experimental/common/main/finkinfo/libs/dbus.info
http://svn.finkproject.org/svn/users/ranger/trunk/experimental/common/main/finkinfo/libs/dbus.patch

...put them in /sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo/libs/ (make the 
directory if it doesn't exist) and then upgrade dbus and try again.
