Please don't top-post.  In a mailing list people often want to refer
back to what is already said, and it makes more sense to read from top
to bottom.

Menu - in most KDE applications Ctrl-m will remove or show the menu.

I apologize for top-posting to this list. 
As for my problem, it is not a lost menu bar in an application, it is the
menu bar for the entire shell. And ctrl-m does nothing for that. I had to
delete Konquerorrc to get it back.
