You may have the message already and just hadn't gotten to it when posting
the above, but just in case...

So it looks to be a user config issue -- or more precisely, something
with how the user config was placed and/or upgraded as introduced
between the two OpenSuSE mileposts implicated in the above bug.

... And I was wrong about the library thing... unless it just happens
that some library screws it up somehow, as the ultimate problem seems
not to have been discovered yet.

But there are several methods for fixing it listed in the above bug.
