See "paulo"'s posts on the general kde list, from just a few hours ago.
I don't know if he's on trunk or not, and he didn't mention which
distribution either, so there's not a lot to go on there. However, he
mentioned having issues with sound, disabling pulse, recompiling a couple
problem apps against alsa, and he was up and running again. YMMV as they
say, but here, I had enough problems with sound servers to last two
lifetimes with arts on kde3, and don't have much use for them any more.
Pulse is, needless to say, a sound server...
