A guess: Ubuntu 9.04 renamed your wireless device to ath1. A friend of 
mine (who doesn't use Ubuntu) discovered that fact after he'd moved to a 
newer version of his existing distro.

sudo iwconfig should list all the wireless devices Linux sees on your 
system.
