Remember that your plasma settings are user-specific, so you should be working
as user, not as root. To see what happens here I did the following
experiment:
[anne at anne-laptop ~]$ kquitapp plasma-desktop
Invalid D-BUS interface name 'org.kde.plasma-desktop.PlasmaApp' found while
parsing introspection
[anne at anne-laptop ~]$ plasma-desktop
QDBusObjectPath: invalid path ""
QLayout: Attempting to add QLayout "" to QWidget "", which already has a
layout
ERROR: syntax error
ERROR: syntax error
ERROR: syntax error
QGraphicsGridLayout::itemAt: invalid index 0
QGraphicsGridLayout::itemAt: invalid index 2
QGraphicsGridLayout::itemAt: invalid index 6
Invalid D-BUS interface name 'org.kde.plasma-desktop.PlasmaApp' found while
parsing introspection
The first command (in konsole) shuts down plasma-desktop, leaving konsole
still active. This is useful when you want to edit plasma configuration
files.
The second command gave similar output to yours (although more of it), but
continued to re-start plasma, and everything is working correctly.
I'm not a programmer, so I can't tell you exactly why these comments appear in
your terminal. When you start almost any app in a terminal you'll see similar
output, often in large quantities.
All I can say, then, is that I don't think you have anything to worry about
there.
Did it do what you wanted? If not, what exactly did you want to achieve?
