Hi,
I'm using KDE4.1.1,too; but with KDM 3.5.x. So I do not know, if the 
thing has changed with KDM 4.x :(.
In KDE 3.5.x, kcontrol <Systemadministration/displaymanager/echo> you 
can choose the prompt of the passwordinput field.
Hopefully it's the same in KDM 4.x.
