I know the feeling well :-).  However, you can simply copy back many of the 
files from your renamed one.  Do it one group at a time, deciding whether it 
could have had any bearing on your problem.  The kontact stuff is a quick and 
easy copy over - that definitely wouldn't have cause problems.  HTH
