[kde-linux] Can anyone help?

Have a dear friend in Russia using Linux Ubuntu v 7.10 and Kopete v 0.12.  I have attempted to send webcam signal via Yahoo IM , but they only see a frame with black video in the frame.   Can someone provide direction, advice or assistance as to what corrective steps or actions to take for system to receive webcam video via Yahoo IM.  Thanks....Hank
