[kde-linux] Plasma Panel - How close to Kicker will it be?

So we all know Plasma is in really infant stages but I personally will be 
missing MANY features of Kicker (I have split kicker panels much like default 
Gnome installations) and have them set to about 24 pixels each to free up a 
lot more space on the work top.

With 3.97.0 I don't see the Plasma Panel being very modifyable. 

So to the question is how close will the Plasma Panel be to Kicker (in which 
it is replacing)?
