[kde-linux] Ever since most recent update, cannot sync to PDA

I did an update a few days ago. Ever since then, I cannot sync JPilot
with my Clie PEG-S360 Palm OS PDA. JPilot tells me that the device it
has been using for several years now without any problems (/dev/ttyUSB1)
doesn't exist:

pi_bind error: /dev/ttyUSB1 No such file or directory
Check your serial port and settings
Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND

When I list /dev, I see that NONE of the ttyUSB devices are there now,
but there are a bunch of devices identified as usbdev1.1_ep00,
usbdev1.1_ep81, up to usbdev4.4_ep81. If I hit the synch button on my
Clie and check, I see a usbdev9.9_ep80 and usbdev9.9_ep81 pop up, but
trying to set JPilot to use that doesn't make a difference.

USBView has no problem seeing the PDA when the PDA is trying to sync.

Using JPilot 0.99.9.4 and pilot-link 0.12.2 (according to JPilot's Help
-> About option). Synaptic says 0.12.2-9 for pilot-link and lists two
libpisock libraries installed - libpisock8 (showing version 0.11.8-24)
and libpisock9 (showing version 0.12.2-9).

Trying to remove libpisock8 tells me it will also remove jpilot-mail and
malsync.

So what can I do about this?
