[kde-linux] Kat search engine: what happened?

Hi, does anyone know what happened to Kat, the KDE search engine? The
Kat website is closed down, the page in kde-apps.org is also deleted.

Will it be developed further?

I could live with beagle as well, but it does not index my old ms office
documents - and I do not want to do the conversion of that old stuff.
