I checked the machine that runs Debian Etch and the version of kmail is 1.8.3 
and it only supports POP3 filtering.

Perhaps I should stop using maildrop and go back to Procmail.  I will have to 
find out if I can get Postfix to deliver mail as $user rather than as root.
