I have to tell you that I don't know what is wrong. But, I will try to
help you debug this.
When you edit the menu with the KDE Menu Editor, the file:
$HOME/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu
So, the first thing to do is check and make sure that editing the menu
results in this file being overwritten.
If that isn't happening, check the permissions of the file and the
directory. It is necessary that your user account have write permission.
