That's a rather old version of KDE. You may consider upgrading it if that is 
easily possible. For the rest, I'm afraid there's not much you can do now 
(given the fact you re-installed the packages).

Maybe http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73720 is related?
