[kde-linux] Getting things to dock in the tray

I've recently installed SUSE 10.1, on two different machines - my
work laptop which is a fast Thinkpad T42, and my home laptop which
is a slower P3 Thinkpad 600X. I'm getting the same unpleasant
behavior on both.

When I login and start up KDE, often applets which should live in the
system tray end up sitting "naked" on my desktop. Some of them are easy
to kill and when you restart them they usually pop into the tray as
expected (kpowersave is one of these). But there are some that you
can't even tell what they are when they're outside the tray. They have
no title bar and offer no context menu. All you can do is kill them.

Why are these things not loading in the tray? It's not even
consistent which ones don't and when, which is why I thought it might
be related to the performance of the machine - until it started
happening on the faster machine. I use IceWM as my win mgr. Could it
be related to this?

Any help appreciated.

Dave
