I asked about this a day or two ago.

Someone responded advising me to look for a "wrong application" (thanks Anne
Wilson!) I did so but could find nothing wrong.
I compared entries with what I have on another linux box running mandrake 10.1
(same as the problem machine) and I did find a few missing associated
filetypes for Kaffine (audio/x-ogg was missing) but otherwise everything
looks identical. (Yes, I added the missing audio/x-ogg entires.
I still get the warning message about
> Could not find mime type
> application/octet-stream
Today, whenever I boot up into KDE, open kmail, open konqueror. I get the same
warning mime type messsage.
I tried menu-bar/Find and typed something in, the system froze with the mime
type message. There may be more I have not found out about yet.
What caused the problem in the first place was me going into fileasscociations
and adding an entry for "ogg" in the known filetypes window, then linking
kaffine to this (in the application preferance window).
I have removed these entries (the same day I asked for assistance here) but
the problem remains.
This is getting anoying. Can I fix this or will a total re-installation of KDE
be necessary?
Thanks.
