It's not really clear to me what you mean with previewing. You mean the 
thumbnails Konqueror generates when you open a directory or the screen it 
shows when you click an image?

1. Preview for images is enabled I assume?
2. If you mean clicking the images in order to view the images, are your file 
associations right (Konqueror settings, File Associations)?
3. Does Konqueror/Kuickshow show any useful output when you run it from 
console?
