Thanks, xwininfo appears to be what I want, but there is a problem: 
either I have to give the ID or the full name. The problem is that the 
full name is "Linux Kde - alainm at pobox.com - Thunderbird" where the 
middle part is not fixed.

How do I store the ID of a window that I have just created (from a 
script)? or how go I get a list of all open windows to search for the 
one I want?
