[kde-linux] kde print not working

So, since replacing the cpu in my machine and upgrading the bios I have had
trouble getting my printer installed. USB detection is enabled in the BIOS.
1st thing is that it takes a very long time for the list of manufacterers and
models to load (not normal even with old cpu) and then the recommended driver
fails to install (foomatic+gimprint). So I choose the
(foomatic+gimprint-ijs) and it loads but it won't print. I go to system
settings>printers and see that the printer is not started. I right click on
printer and choose start printer and after a few moments it quits. I have
tried all of the drivers listed for my printer and none will even print a
test page.

I can't figure it out. Any ideas?
