[kde-linux] Installing KDE-3.5.2 from source on Debian - no working libxext

Hi!

When running 'configure' in the kdelibs-3.5.2-directory, it ends up with 
the error message
checking for libXext... no
configure: error: We need a working libXext to proceed. Since configure
can't find it itself, we stop here assuming that make wouldn't find
them either.

I am using a system based on Debian sarge/etch, XFree86 4.3.0.1. libxext.a
libxext.so
libxext.so.6
libxext.so.6.4
are located in /usr/X11R6/lib and I can't find a hint what to do...
