Thanks, that worked. 64k gave a suitably short startup time.

BUT I spoke too soon when I said that embedded kmplayer is working. After a 
minute or two a duplicate stream starts playing, delayed by a fraction of a 
second from the first stream.

I give up. Konqueror is just a waste of my time so far as plugins is 
concerned. I'll use firefox.
