Project abstract

This project requires translating tellico application to hindi. tellico has
translations in a lot of languages but it lacks support for hindi language.
lokalize translation tool will assist in translation.
<#proposal>Proposal

Hindi is the 3rd most spoken language of the world in 2019 with 615 million
speakers. Adding hindi language support to a kde application would mean
Increased Accessibility, Cultural Inclusivity, and Enhanced User Experience.

Tellico is one of the most starred projects in the office subgroup. It is
used by thousands of people around the world to manage collections of
books, videos, music, etc. This project aims to translate all sentences
displayed to the user into Hindi.

A translation tool like lokalize will be used to translate every sentences.
According to lokalize, there is a total of 2070 statements in need of
translation. These statements are divided into two groups docmessages and
messages. I would be starting of with translating messages and then
docmessages.

I will regularly update the Hindi team about my progress and ask for review.
<#timeline>Timeline

week 1 (January 17, 2024) - week 4 (February 14, 2024) I will translate all
the messages files. There are a total of 730 sentences.

week 4 (February 14, 2024) - week 8 (March 13, 2024) I will translate all
the docmessages files. There are a total of 1340 sentences.

week 8 (March 13, 2024) - week 10 (March 31, 2024) I will re-check every
translation from my end to ensure correctness before submitting for final
review. During this period, I would also make a comprehensive report about
my work.

I would be devoting 20-25 hours a week for the completion of this project.

If ambiguity arise in the choice of words to use, I will have a detailed
discussion with my mentor and the hindi team and come to a choice which
will not harm anyone's sentiment, culture or religious beliefs.
