[Kde-kiosk] Hotplugged USB stick doesn't work

Sounds like you ticked of the "no access outside homedir" option in 
kiosktool. Have a look at the 
file /etc/kde-profile/default/share/config/kdeglobals (it might be 
somewhere else in your system), mine looks like this:

[KDE URL Restrictions][$i]
rule_1=list,,,,file,,,false
rule_2=list,,,,file,,$HOME,true
rule_3=list,,,,file,,/media,true
rule_4=list,,,,file,,/var/tmp,true
rule_5=list,,,,file,,/shared,true
rule_count=5
