[Kde-kiosk] quick fix for desktop damage

Hi, 
I think you guys might be able to offer some quick guidance. 
Just the other day I installed suse 9 with kde 3.1, in classroom environment. 
Complete with a non root default user. The users will soon get the idea of  
konqueror i thought. However 24 hours later the desktop was completely wrecked. 
Only the printer icon was still present. Enthousiastic children had had a look  
round in a strange place (ie not MS). 
So I deleted the user and recreated it, damage gone. 
I expect a kiosk with konquerour and kopete would be ideal. 
But in the meantime are there any quick steps i could take in that direction. 
readonly configfiles or arranging for konquerour to popup with loaded www home page 
say.  Or better a quick kiosk solution..
