/etc/kde3rc will contain the following entry:

	[Directories]
	userProfileMapFile=/etc/kde-user-profile

Every KDE application will check this file and automatically apply the profile 
specified in /etc/kde-user-profile for the current user.

(Unfortunately it is slightly buggy: the code for the KDE menu fails to pick 
up the profile this way, fixed in KDE 3.3)
