I've got it done in a patch.  All that is needed to finish the patch up is to 
update it vs. the current kcalc source (the patch is against a version from 8 
months ago) and modify the layout widget a little bit to account for better 
spacing if there are less buttons.  Otherwise, it's pretty complete.

If you would like the patch, let me know and I'll send it.
