Hey Maulik,

Just like you, I am too a newbie and attended conf.kde at DA-IICT last
weekend.

>From what I have been observing at the mailing lists and reading past
mailing list archives, best thing is to start with installation of Kubuntu
13.10 (if you haven't already done so) and then first get yourself familiar
with it by using it as your routine operating system for sometime.

After that have plasma media center setup on your system and start using
that as you would use your current primary media application (iTunes may be
if you are on a Mac or Windows Media Player / VLC / etc if you are on
Windows). Familiarity is important with the application that you want to
work on, only then you can realise the bugs or think of new features that
would fit the current ones.
You can check out the community page for Plasma Media Center here:
http://community.kde.org/Plasma/Plasma_Media_Center (Page was last modified
on *25 Feb 2014* at the time of writing this email, hence you can expect it
to be up to date)

Once comfortable with KDE and plasma media center applications, Sign up for
KDE bugs portal (https://bugs.kde.org) and start looking at junior jobs on
KDE website or if you can't find any junior jobs that you can work on,
start looking at bugs relating to plasma media center on KDE bugs site. An
example of bug relating to plasma media center:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328394. Here Sinny and Shantanu have
worked on this bug (if you remember these guys were there at conf.kde)

On another mailing list thread, Kushal had shared this PDF document that I
really found useful as someone who is new to mailing lists / forums / IRC
etc even if you aren't familiar with these community oriented communication
channels, a quick look on this document will help you gain some community
guidelines (not rules, but basic etiquette):
http://www.shakthimaan.com/downloads/glv/presentations/communication-guidelines.pdf

Read it once whenever you have free time, should not take more than 10 / 15
mins.

Then rest is all on your interest and keen ness to contribute to project.

Hope this helps, and if this response isn't appropriate, expect a response
from someone else soon.
