Humble submission.
I actually wanted to apply the gradient to the KDE logo itself, so the glossy
Crystal look is retained, but couldn't figure out how to do it in GIMP and
didn't have the patience to find out.
Created a gradient in the background and decreased opacity of the KDE logo
layer to 20%. KDE logo official crystal art from KDE website.
I used a custom gradient: "India Flag Smooth" (based on "Mexican Flag Smooth")
with POV-Ray export being:
/* color_map file created by the GIMP */
/* http://www.gimp.org/ */
color_map {
[0.000000 color rgbt <1.000000, 0.500000, 0.100000, 0.000000>]
[0.250000 color rgbt <1.000000, 0.750000, 0.550000, 0.000000>]
[0.500000 color rgbt <1.000000, 1.000000, 1.000000, 0.000000>]
[0.500000 color rgbt <1.000000, 1.000000, 1.000000, 0.000000>]
[0.750000 color rgbt <0.500000, 0.850000, 0.605000, 0.000000>]
[1.000000 color rgbt <0.000000, 0.700000, 0.210000, 0.000000>]
} /* color_map */
P.S: Submission as separate mail. Sorry for brevity of language.
