Metadata ARW

Hello,
if I understand it correctly writing metdata to ARW files is currently not
possible scince Exiv2 doesn't support it?
I looked at their roadmap and couldn't find any plans to do a write support
for ARW in the futur.
So is there any chance that writing metdata to ARW from Digkam will be
possible in the futur? I saw that accoridng to Wikipedia Exiftools supports
writing to it.
