[Kde-imaging] Digikam face recognition

Hi there

Taking a look at this year GSoC list I proposals I found this one:

Short description: Face Recognition was implemented in digiKam using the 
libface shared library which uses Eigenfaces algorithm. This project aims to 
implement a new and efficient algorithm for the same based on the Hidden 
Markov Model.

I thought we already had a quite decent face recognition, do we need a new 
one?
