This is about selection for all possible operations.

Thinking about the reverse case: Assume all grouped images are selected with
the group leader. Now the next user will be quite surprised because he only
meant to select the single image, not the whole thing behind; after all, he
selected only one image.

My opinion: To select the whole group, you will need to make the additional
click and expand the group.
