Also, in addition to changing when the image was created based on a rating
change as described above, Digikam isn't able to properly read the data from
the images in the first place.

In the attached screenshot, #1 is the original NEF file, and #2 is a JPG I
created with UFRaw.

Digikam is displaying the wrong date, even though the only reference to that
date in the Exif info is "File Modification Date/Time : 2010:08:16
18:10:15-04:00":
