EF, I've added some debug messages and tried to prevent the bug "by suspicion".
Can you compile the current svn code and try to reproduce the crash?

Please enable full debugging for digikam and kipi in kdebugdialog before
starting digikam and paste the whole console output here.

Can you also reproduce this crash using the plugin in gwenview?
