Summary: KIPI seems to provide global shortcuts that conflict
                    with standard keyboard editing combinations
           Product: kipiplugins
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kde-imaging at kde.org
        ReportedBy: jedd at progsoc.org

Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Caveat - still tracking this down, so open to suggestions here.

Background - I noticed in KPhotoAlbum (KPA) (4.0.1) that ships as part of
Debian unstable that the global shortcut of ctrl+shift+left / ctrl+shift+right
- usually used to select a word in any text-based application - was being
hijacked.

I tracked this to KPA - under KPA | Settings | Configure Shortcuts. A quarter
way down the setting 'A tool to rotate/flip images without losing quality',
under the Global Shortcut for same, was using this key combination.

Removing this global shortcut resolved the problem (of not being able to select
word-by-word in ANY application while KPA happened to be open somewhere on the
desktop).

Discussed on the KPA list, and the primary author suggested the problem lay
with KIPI. I've had one other confirmed sighting of the problem off the same
list, but had no joy getting any comments from the Debian-KDE list. It's
possible that people don't keep kipi-enabled applications running while they do
something else(?). It's also possible that it's a Debian packaging issue - but
those guys tend to not fiddle with these kinds of settings on the way through
the packaging process.
