If I start the ken burns slideshow within a folder that contains ~160 pictures
it takes minutes before it actually starts.

There is no progress indicator thus the user does not know whether there is
something wrong or not.

This is a dual-core with 2GB RAM and a NVIDIA 7600 with the binary driver, so
openGL effects or peformance should not be an issue.
