[Kde-imaging] Export to Ipod not working

What version of libgpod are you using there?  You may need
libgpod-0.6.0 to properly write to the new Nano's.  You do for music
and things that write the iTunesDB for sure, but I don't know if
you'll also need that for Photos.  But that's the first thing I'd look
at if I were you.
