In the future (i.e. digikam >=0.10.0) it will be possible to
use several albums on differents paths. So if
this avahi stuff behaves similar to NFS, it should be possible
to access the images. 
Do you have more information about avahi?
What do you mean by *sharing*, for example are you also
talking about metadata, or even more?
