What to do when original images are uploaded? 
If necessary rotate them, but don't touch the originals.

I never thought of using another browser; Are there any browsers that do autorotate of images?

(I got confused with your questions... not sure if I made myself clear)

Let me try to clarify:
When I refer to the HTML export plugin, I mean the one that copies images from digikam (for example) onto some folder on the hard drive, creates thumbnails of each file and creates some nice HTML files with the thumbnails linked to the full images.
