If that does not provide enough output, you could just copy 
images2mpg to your home directory, edit the corresponding place in the script
and run it via ./images2mpg
(For the edit: just add VERBOSE_=3, and replace the two lines with
$MPLEX_BIN -v $VERBOSE by $MPLEX_BIN -v $VERBOSE_)
