Another good way to avoid missing mails is not subscribe at all.... I
use Gmane (http://www.gmane.org/) for several mailing lists (including
this one) and it serves me very well. It acts just like an News server
so e.g. this mailing list is: gmane.comp.kde.devel.imaging

Works very well for me.
