Huh.  I patched the kipi-plugins-0.1+rc1 debian package and it works for me.  It could use some refinement, but it gets the job done.   

Here is my log from a post:

The fact that you're getting a 403 makes me think that the problem isn't the patch, but more likely a server config issue (assuming you're using the right username/password on the client side).  I just upgraded to the latest gallery 2.1.1a and verified that it still works.
