gallery2 is still in alpha stage. Have a look at the gallery2 readme (especially - when not to use section)

the protocol for it is/will be(?) different from the gallery1 protocol. so its a moving target for now. once gallery2 or gallery2_remote protocol reaches a beta stage, i will update the code to support it.
